When, for various reasons, children cannot go outside, run, jump, and, in short, burn energy, families must have a wide range of activities for children at home. Activities that do not neglect their creativity and learning, and that are developed in a fun and didactic way.

It is important that we dedicate time to enjoy these moments with our children, which will not only help us to maintain a closer relationship with them, but will also allow us to instill values so that they develop other aspects such as cooperation, respect, family, etc. Therefore, we will give you some ideas of fun and original activities that we can do with our children at home.

Creativity-stimulating activities for children at home

Distinctive storytelling

A good trick to use at bedtime. Start reading one of your child's favorite books. When you reach a critical point in the action, challenge him to take over the story and add his own twist. For example, if you're reading Cinderella and the evil stepsisters have torn her dress, ask your child, "What would you do if someone did that to you? Should Cinderella run away and cry, or should she do something else?" Teach children to think for themselves.

Creating a road with insulating tape

Carpets can become an ideal setting to get creative and build our own "city" for toys. Grab some duct tape and make paths all over the carpet. Think about how they will connect, where they will lead and what accessories we can add to the path. Talk about what amenities the newly created community might need and what toys will "live" there.

Artistic activities

Sock puppets

Test the creativity of children and ourselves. Using old or mismatched socks, make a puppet theater at home. Also, at Titerenet you will find scripts of different plays for children that you can print out. Assemble your own theater simply with some fabric and a cardboard box.

Imitate the dialogues of children's movies.

This is an activity for children to do at home that will be fun for all members of the family. Children love to dress up in their parents' clothes to imitate them, this can be a good stimulus to do theater at home recreating the dialogue of their favorite movies, you will promote family ties. When children imitate dialogues, they develop oral and corporal expression, they counteract their shyness and their memory is stimulated while they learn what they are going to say.

Ask the children to rehearse a part of the script of their favorite movie, help them with some costume ideas, create a small stage to act out the play and have fun as a family.

Educational activities

Recycling projects

It is a good time to educate children about the importance of recycling. Teach them to separate objects from different materials such as cardboard or cans and use them to create new games with these recycled objects. For example, with a cardboard box we can create a car or a house, while with empty cans we can create a bowling game.

Doing experiments

A very fun and different way for children to learn basic physics and chemistry concepts. For example, invisible ink. With just a paintbrush or cotton swab, white paper and lemon. Squeeze lemon juice into a glass and add a tablespoon of water, mix and, with the help of a cotton swab or paintbrush, write your message on the paper. Let it dry, put a candle underneath (without putting the paper too close) and the secret message can be read.

A fun activity with which you can play detective with your children, creating messages that only the best investigators will be able to solve.

Practice mathematics in a fun way with Smartick

If you want your children to reinforce math while they are at home, there is nothing better than practicing with Smartick. It is an application that adapts to the level and skills of the child. With just a few minutes they will be able to practice, as it offers a simple method to reinforce knowledge and develop math skills with easy-to-understand exercises.

There are many activities for children at home with which they can entertain each other or with all the members of the family. From Logos International School, a private school located in Las Rozas de Madrid, we encourage you to put into practice these proposals with which you can participate and have fun with your children.
