What is a psycho-pedagogical cabinet?

The psycho-pedagogical office is a multidisciplinary service that seeks to detect variables that may affect the integral development of students. It is a very useful tool that aims to achieve the highest educational quality, promoting and carrying out a series of activities and programs focused on individualized attention.

The psycho-pedagogical office is made up of an integrated professional team of specialized psychologists, teacher-tutors and technical directors.

Functions performed by this cabinet

In the first place, its functions are aimed at diagnosing and preventing different educational needs, which will then be addressed through different activities and programs. In order to carry them out, specific actions are carried out, among which the following stand out:

  • Counseling and guidance to members of the educational community.
  • Application of psychodiagnostic tests or techniques for the detection of possible difficulties that may affect the development and learning of students.
  • Training activities for teachers to promote the integral development of students.
  • Workshops for families that offer the necessary tools for the harmonious development and well-being of the student.
  • Individualized guidance for decision making.
  • Control and monitoring of programs.

How can you help students?

One of the fundamental axes of the psycho-pedagogical cabinet is preventive action. The early detection of situations such as dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, ADD, ASD, AVSD, among others, will contribute to take the necessary measures for the adaptation of the student. On the other hand, the programs are adapted to the needs of each of them, offering activities to motivate and encourage their performance within the educational environment.

Having an orientation for families offers some guidelines for students to learn at home, creating a space to share experiences and to keep the student in attendance when he/she is out of school.

Career guidance workshops help students discover their interests and professional preferences. Tests are administered to secondary school and high school students in order to provide them with an orientation towards the profession or career they wish to study in the future. Similarly, the activities related to career guidance are taught by university professors.

In the attention to student diversity, attention is also given to students with high intellectual capacity, since the psycho-pedagogical office, in collaboration with other departments, deepens in activities that awaken the interest of these students, getting them to demonstrate their talents in disciplines such as academic olympiads before other schoolmates. This practice shows how the student remains motivated to learn and this stimulation is closely linked to their emotional well-being.
