The options to study baccalaureate have expanded, incorporating an alternative that allows the student to learn in a global way some subjects, in addition to opening a range of possibilities worldwide. This modality is the International Baccalaureate (IB).
There are currently only around 4,500 schools worldwide that offer this type of baccalaureate, in which the main objective is the formation of integral students, not only in specific knowledge, but also in the development of other skills.
What is the International Baccalaureate?
It is a pre-university mode of study for students between 16 and 19 years of age and lasts 2 years. The International Baccalaureate originated in Geneva and was created in 1968 to offer students a balanced education, facilitate geographic and cultural mobility and promote international understanding.
This is a great opportunity that opens many doors for students who decide to study it, not only at the university level, but also in the labor and entrepreneurial areas, since the prestige and excellence obtained are recognized worldwide.
Advantages of studying the International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate offers a host of advantages for students who sign up for this mode of study, among them are the following:
- The learning acquired allows you to have an open mind, allowing you to communicate effectively with people anywhere in the world, understanding their reality in a global way.
- A significant advantage is the mastery of another language, acquired in an easier way while studying at the baccalaureate level.
- It provides integral learning in which knowledge is complemented with service, creativity with action.
- The degree obtained is recognized in almost all universities worldwide, as well as in companies for access to employment.
- Students learn to understand current world events and issues.
- It is evident that the level of demand has a positive influence on the student, making him more curious and interested in his learning.
- In addition to the academic content, students learn to plan and manage their time effectively. This aspect is very important because it creates a habit that favors university studies and, later on, the labor field.
- All subjects have a connection that the student discovers, and in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) class the student is encouraged to make these analogies.
- The student develops emotionally, ethically and intellectually. The International Baccalaureate goes beyond a grade point average.
Where to study it?
Currently in Spain there are still not a large number of schools that offer the International Baccalaureate program and it is not an easy choice because the future of the student will depend on it. If you are looking for a school that offers a comprehensive, relevant and quality learning, the ideal place is Logos International School, since we are an institution that enjoys great prestige since 1975 and we are able to provide a learning that includes language, humanities, science and mathematics.
Similarly, we encourage depth and breadth of learning by allowing our students to choose groups of up to 6 subjects to study at different levels. Each student at Logos International School, a private school located in Las Rozas, will have the ability to analyze and evaluate various current world issues, generating new ideas and new perspectives of critical thinking.
