The Internet is exposed to the whole world and there is no content exposure regulator for young people, so they have access to everything on the net. Although it is an advantage for learning and development, it is often a problem, because the network has no limits and teenagers are at risk that certain content or people behind the screen can hurt them.

What risks are there on the Internet for a teenager?

That is why in this article we want to present some of these risks so that we can identify them once we have them in front of us and take care of our children from them.

Cyberbullying

Bullying is one of the most serious problems in society and it is very present on the Internet. Cyberbullying occurs when someone psychologically harasses another person through the network. Even this type of bullying can do even more damage to the adolescent because on the Internet everything spreads faster and with greater resonance.

Identity theft

It is possible that the young person disseminates his or her data on a social network or platform simply out of ignorance and another individual appropriates it to impersonate him or her, either in order to take advantage of it, extort someone, discredit another person or the victim through this false identity.

Internet addiction

Young people are prone to generate compulsive behaviors with things that provoke stimuli or interaction with other people, such as video games or social networks. If time is not well rationed or they overdo it in terms of the hours they spend on the Internet, it can begin to be harmful to their lives, since addiction to technologies affects their interpersonal relationships, their mood, anxiety or security, as they do not develop their social skills in any other way than through a screen. In addition, it prevents them from dedicating time to other areas of their lives, to their studies and to themselves.

Unsuitable content

Let's not forget that, even if they are not children, they are still minors and the network is full of explicit or violent content, gambling houses or adults who intend to do harm.

Remember that our professional team at Logos International School can provide information in this regard in order to identify the risks on the Internet for your child and know how to act against them.
